Maple Syrup festival in search of sponsors

January 16, 2014

WAKARUSA — Wakarusa’s main event of the year is expanding this year, Normally, the Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce needs between 55 and 60 sponsors to support the Maple Syrup Festival’s multitude of free events, but this year, they’ll need even more if they’re to follow through with plans.
“The sponsors make it so everything’s free,” Deb Shively, executive secretary for the Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce, said.
One of the biggest changes to the festival this year is the addition of Sunday to the festivities. Formerly, the Maple Syrup Festival was held on only Friday and Saturday- this year will be the first in the 44 year celebration that Sunday will be included.
“It’s a great way to show your support by becoming a sponsor- it’s a great way to participate. When you list everything people can do for free, it’s pretty awesome, and it’s all because of our sponsors.”
This year’s goal is $25,000 and the chamber is already halfway to it.
To become a sponsor, call Deb Shively at (574) 862-4344 or email chamber@wakarusachamber.com for more information.
