LMEC hosts free fishing classes June 1, 2

May 13, 2013

The Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council will hold free family fishing classes on June 1 and 2 to correspond with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Free Fishing Weekend this year.

During Free Fishing Weekend, no fishing licenses are required on any public lake in the state. So if you are a kid who wants to learn, or a parent who needs to learn, or both, or even retired and wish you had learned when you were young, call now to reserve a space!

Learn how to put together a fishing rod, handle a reel, tie knots, cast and much more. The class will be great for new “want-to-be” fishermen. Modeled after Indiana’s GoFishIN classes put on by IDNR, they are interactive and fairly short and include both classroom instruction, games plus actual fishing.

Class size is limited to twenty at a time, so call 574-842-3686 to register now. Classes will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at the beach lodge on Lake Maxinkuckee, as well as from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 2.

If registration dictates, second classes can be held Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Call now or visit http://www.lakemax.org and leave your name, contact information (phone number, email address) and the time and date of the class you wish to attend. Someone will get back to you to verify your registration as soon as possible.
