Lions favored as NSC tilt opens

September 24, 2010

BREMEN — After winning the round robin of the Northern State Conference race, Bremen entered the NSC Tournament as the favorites Thursday.
The Lions won at two of three singles courts at the conference opener, and their two doubles teams earned a bye with the No. 1 seed at their positions to keep Bremen the favorite heading into Saturday’s tourney finals, but head coach Andrew Rohde isn’t taking anything for granted.
“The one thing I told the guys is the round robin is over and we’re done with it,” he said. “Yeah that’s great, but we’re not going to look at it as a cushion. We’re looking at it as what are we going to do going forward in the tournament. It is wonderful that we won the round robin, but that is the past. We’re looking forward in this tournament, going after every match, every match giving it everything we have.”
