CULVER — Lila P. Howard, 68, of Culver passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 1:55 p.m. in the Kindred Hospital of Northern Indiana, Mishawaka.
Lila was born July 26, 1943 in South Bend. She was one of 10 children born to Clifford and Lela (Duddleston) Bean. She graduated from Culver Community High School in 1961. June 14, 1961 she was married to Robert Cooper Sr. Bob preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1979. Lila later married Sammy Howard Sept. 27, 1980. She cooked for many different establishments, had a wonderful sense of humor and was an avid bowler. She loved to bake, making many wedding cakes over the years.
Lila is survived by her husband Sammy of Culver; sons Robert (Glennia) Cooper Jr. and David Cooper of Culver, Larry (George) Cooper of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Rodney Cooper of Koontz Lake; daughters Lisa (Ray) Whitcraft of Grovertown, L. Gwen (Bill) Dehne of Shelbyville, Tenn., Jessica (Ray) Heater of Star City, Tina Montgomery of Culver, and Crystal Cooper of South Bend; brothers Clifford and Norman Bean of South Bend, Leroy Bean of Culver, Richard and Wayne Bean of Plymouth, and Wendell Bean of Wisconsin; sisters Margaret Bosel of Grovertown, Gloria Artist of Culver and Barbara Whisman of Plymouth; 31 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, and grandson Jackie Lewis Cooper.
A time of sharing memories with the family will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 3 to 8 p.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Rev. R.D. Humphrey will officiate funeral services Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Culver. Interment will follow at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Culver Boys and Girls Club.
