BREMEN — Up 18 points at halftime, LaVille coach Michael Edison warned his team that historically-scrappy Bremen was capable of a big second half-run. He was right.
Bremen clawed back and trailed by five with 3 minutes remaining, but LaVille put the game away at the free throw line in a 47-36 victory.
“Bremen’s only won one game, but they’re the type of team that battles,” Edison said. “I’m proud of our guys for their composure. It’s easy when things are going well, but it’s about how you react when things aren’t going well. I was happy how they finished the game off.”
Bremen got off to another slow start, trailing 21-6 in the in the first quarter.
“You make your own breaks, and I think we almost broke ourselves in the first quarter,” Bremen coach Kyle Hanyzewski said. “There aren’t a lot of NBA teams who are going to recover from a 21-point first quarter. But I told them if they did what we talked about, they could get back in the game, and they responded. We just ran out of gas because we got into such a deep hole.”
