LaVille standout Ingle heading to Ancilla
LAKEVILLE — LaVille softball record-holder Valerie Ingle has signed on to continue her softball career with Ancilla College beginning in the 2012-2013 season.
Ingle, who earned all four of her varsity letters in softball for the Lancers, spent most of her time as shortstop at LaVille. She was a member of the All-Northern State Conference First Team her junior and senior seasons and was also named MVP for her team during those seasons. Ingle was an All-Conference Honorable Mention team member as a sophomore.
She holds numerous LaVille batting records, including career batting average (.395), career hits (104), fewest strikeouts in a career (8), and fewest strikeouts in a season (0, 2010).
Ingle led the Lancers with a .523 batting average last season, while slugging at a .754 clip.
She is also a 10-year member in 4-H.
“I was excited about the opportunities Ancilla College will give me to continue my academic and athletic career,” said Ingle.
“Valerie has a lot of natural athletic and softball ability,” mentioned LaVille coach Scot Shearer. “She leaves LaVille as the career hits leader, batting average leader, and is the best shortstop LaVille has had in school history.”
Ingle plans on starting out with a degree in General Studies while at Ancilla.
“Val is a fantastic addition to our team,” stated Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “She is a fine shortstop and may be looked upon to step in behind the plate for us, as well. Her abilities at the plate speak for themselves, through her numbers and the confidence she exudes in the box. I am glad she has become part of the Ancilla softball family.”
Valerie is the daughter of David and Kim Ingle of Lakeville.
