KNOX — LaVerna Ewing, 88, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver.
She was born March 31, 1923 in Kokomo to Ray and Ina (Jordan) Myers. Dec. 18, 1941 in Mishawaka she was married to Carroll Ewing, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. 
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Benko of Knox; three sons, Gerald Ewing of Oak Grove, Richard (Dolly) Ewing of Culver, and Jeff (Renee) Ewing of Argos; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She owned and operated C&L Food Center in Oak Grove with her late husband for 52 years. She was a member of Eagle Creek Church in Knox, the Knox VFW Auxiliary and the Washington Township Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a previous member of many civic organizations.
A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with Rev. Ed Hasnerl officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
