Lady Trojans send seniors out in style vs Jimtown, 74-16

January 28, 2013

BOURBON — The Lady Trojans wanted to send their seniors out in style against Jimtown Saturday night.
Triton took care of business as they dominated the Lady Jimmies 74-16 on Senior Night at the Trojan Trench Saturday night.
The win keeps the Trojans perfect in the Northern State Conference, while the Jimmies remain winless in conference play.
“Our girls were on top of their game tonight,” said Triton coach Adam Heckaman. “They wanted to make sure seniors Shana Anderson and Breanna Lemler went out in grand style, and they did a good job of that.”
The two seniors turned it up on the defensive end of the floor, combining for 10 of the team’s 18 steals on the night.
The Trojans started the game on a 19-2 run with junior Taylor Hatfield scoring eight of her 23 in the quarter. They led 19-6 at the end of the first.
Both teams were sluggish to start off the second quarter with neither team scoring until the 3:42 mark. From there, Triton took off and closed out the quarter on a 16-2 run, leading 35-8 at the half.
The second half was more of the same, as every Lady Trojan scored in the game. They outscored Jimtown 39-8 in the second half on their way to the win and at least a share of the NSC championship.
“This was obviously an important game. We talked about it before — we win tonight, we get at least a share of the conference championship,” said Heckaman. “Obviously our goal is to win it outright. We still have to take care of business next week against LaVille. We are taking one step at a time. We did what we needed to tonight.”
The Lady Trojans are now 15-5 and a perfect 6-0 in the NSC and will try to win the conference outright on Feb. 1 at LaVille at 7:30 p.m. Jimtown is now 4-14 and 0-6 in the NSC.
