Lady Pilgrims coach Cox retires

February 23, 2012

PLYMOUTH — After more than 20 years and a dozen championships, Plymouth High School girls basketball coach Dave Cox is retiring, the school announced Wednesday.
Cox leaves the program as the school’s all-time winningest hoops coach with 308 victories to his credit.
His resume boasts a Class 3A state championship in 2008, when he was named the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association’s State Coach of the Year, as well as a state runner-up finish in 2001. The wily skipper guided the Lady Pilgrims to nine sectional championships, four Northern Lakes Conference championships and two regional titles.
Before being hired at PHS, Cox spent a combined six years in the Triton, Caston and Plymouth feeder systems. He started a Plymouth indoor/ outdoor summer league in 1993 that grew to include over 85 teams and 874 participants across northern Indiana.
