Lady Eagles win CGA Regional

CULVER — Paced by repeat individual champion Waverly Neer, the Culver Girls Academy cross country team edged out Eastern 52-53 to claim a championship on its home course at the CGA Regional Saturday, while Plymouth's girls scored a 127 for the final semistate berth.
Paced by Neer's 17:53, the Lady Eagles secured three top-10 spots en route to the repeat team title and a ticket out to the New Prairie Semistate next Saturday. Kaye Sitterly finished fifth, and Kacie Hermanson was seventh for CGA, while Eden Brackenbury finished 21st, and Kayla-Colleen Miracle was 22nd.
The Lady Pilgrims were led by strong performances from their freshman class and four came in under 22 minutes Saturday. Freshmen Deborah Anders and Emmelyn Brandt clocked in at 21:01 and 21:06 in 18th and 20th, respectively, while fellow freshman Shelby Harrell placed 32nd in 21:51. Gaby Ramirez was 34th and Meagan Fisher finished 41st.
