ARGOS — John Herbert Fear Sr., 75, of 7988 S.R. 10, Argos, died Feb. 25, 2012 at 6:29 a.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 19, 1937 in Argos to Thurl J. and Elnora (Mechling) Fear. He lived all of his life in the Argos community. Nov. 7, 1981 in Plymouth, he married Malva I. LaVanway.
He was a farmer and worked as a machinist at Zimmers in Warsaw for 16 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Rochester Moose Lodge #1107, Rochester. He was a graduate of Argos High School class of 1955. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, word puzzle books, all sporting events and NASCAR. He loved “running away with his wife” on their travels.
He is survived by his wife, Malva Fear of Argos; sons, Michael Fear and wife Annie of Tippecanoe, David Fear of New Bremen, Ohio; daughters, Karen Olszewski and husband Michael of Plymouth, Beth Garnier and husband Glen of Arizona, Gina Williams of Plymouth, and Nita Morgan of Kokomo; 32 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Fear and wife Ester of California; and sister, Ruth Patterson and husband Tom of Argos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John H. Fear Jr.; and daughter, Lisa Smith.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday March 1, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday March 1, 2012 at the funeral home, Rev. Ron Hensley officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
