John Glenn names Jimtown’s David Sharpe as new head football coach

February 20, 2013

WALKERTON — Jimtown royalty will take the reins of the John Glenn football team next season.
David Sharpe, son of longtime former Jimmies football coach Bill Sharpe, was announced Tuesday as the Falcons’ new head coaching hire.
As a player for the Jimmies under his father, Sharpe earned top honors as an offensive tackle and defensive end and was an Indiana Football Coaches Association All-State pick at defensive lineman in 1999. A 2000 graduate of Jimtown, Sharpe returned as assistant coach of the Jimmies after attending Purdue and has been an assistant coach for Jimtown football the last eight years.
Sharpe takes over for Justin Bogunia, who departed the program with a head coaching record of 101-67 after a 15-season tenure in which he guided the program to two of its three sectional championships and the Falcons’ only regional title in 2004.
