JONESBORO â€” Joan E. Barber, 93, died at 10 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born in Jonesboro Dec. 31, 1917 to the late James and Ora (Futrell) Baskett. She married Clair Barber Oct. 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death in June 1989. Joan was a homemaker and had previously worked at Paranite Wire and Cable for more than 20 years. She was always a caregiver and enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors. She was a member of Community Bible Methodist Church where she was the treasurer for 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle E. (Michael) Goins, Bremen; grandchildren, Joshua (Tammy) Goins, LaPaz, Christopher (Sherry) Goins, Vermilion, Ohio, and Matthew (Chalisa) Goins, Bremen; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Eric, Katie, Zachary, Cody, Madison, Evan, and Leilani; sister, Dorothy â€śDotâ€ť Conn, Celina, Ohio; special niece, Jane Miitsch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ora Baskett; husband, Clair Barber; and sister, Janet Wilson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at Community Bible Methodist Church, 300 N. 7th St., Gas City. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
