CONVERSE — Janet E. Taber Leap, 60, of Converse, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at her home after an illness. Jan was born June 6, 1952, in Plymouth, to Raymond and Lydia (Seghetti) Taber.
Jan was a 1970 graduate of Plymouth High School and a 1974 graduate of Ball State University graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in education. She was employed as a third-grade teacher at St. Bernard Catholic School in Marion, she later taught with Sylvan Learning Center and also did private tutoring. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Marion.
On March 8, 1975 she was married in Plymouth to her husband, Roger A. Leap of Converse who survives.
She was a lover of animals especially her Irish Setter Isaac. A horsewoman, she also enjoyed gardening, home decorating and repair. She twice toured Europe with her daughter visiting family in Italy. She had a special love of her Italian family including cousins, Andrea, Lynn and Dale.
Jan was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her daughter, Kelsey L. Leap (Todd) Reust of Chicago, Ill.; her son, Chad R. Leap of Kokomo. Her sister, Donna Rae Taber (Robert) Whitmer of Plymouth. Her mother-in-law Lois Leap of Kokomo, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law along with a niece and nephew also survive.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and father-in-law.
There will be no public services. A family memorial service will take place at a later date. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, next to her parents.

The Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home of Peru and the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home are assisting with arrangements.
