Jail committee considers a proposed site for new Starke jail

A proposed site for the new Starke County Jail is being considered at the intersection of Ind. 8 and C.R. 550 E., across from Sabre Manufacturing east of Knox. Although details for purchasing the property are still under investigation, the Jail Advisory Committee is seriously considering purchasing 10 acres that would include an existing building. The proposal will be a topic of discussion at the Starke County Commissioners meeting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
