LAKEVILLE — Ivan David “Ike” Amor, 76, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth. Ike was born Aug. 1, 1936 in Plymouth to the late Lester Arnold and Rosa Gladys (Miller) Amor. Ike was raised in Donaldson and lived there for 22 years, lived in Teegarden for one year and has spent the last 53 years as a resident of Lakeville. On Jan. 24, 1959 in Marshall County, he was united in marriage to Laura Maxine Snyder who survives.
Along with his wife, Laura Maxine, he is survived by his three sons, Bruce (Kathy) Amor of Indianapolis, Brian (Roslyn) Amor of South Bend, and Brent (Dawn) Amor of Lakeville; eight grandchildren, Bradley (Kimberly) Amor of Bourbon, Kyle (Nicole) Amor of Plymouth, Kody (Sarah) Amor of Plymouth, Hannah Amor of Lakeville, William Amor of South Bend, Sarah Amor of Lakeville, Michael Amor of South Bend, and Nicholas Amor of Lakeville; six great-grandchildren, Austin Wagers, Joshua Wagers, Kelsey Hamilton, and Evan Amor, all of Bourbon, and Konnor Amor and Liam Amor, both of Plymouth; one sister, Wilma (Don) Jones of Valparaiso; and his sister-in-law, Claire Amor of Plymouth.
Ike was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold (Ester) Amor, Forest (Leota) Amor, and Glenn Amor.
Ike retired in 1994 after 35 years of employment with Shipper’s Dispatch and Preston Trucking where he was the shop lead man and semi truck repairman. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy. Ike enjoyed spending time with his wife of 54 years and his entire family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, cutting wood and dancing. For many years, he was a hobby farmer and raised beef cattle. Ike was a member of the Moose Lodge, Sons of the American Legion, and VFW. He was a 35 year member of the Teamster’s Union Local 364. Ike will be greatly missed by his friends and family. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Michiana Hematology and Oncology, the staff of Pilgrim Manor and the staff of the Center for Hospice of Marshall County for their care and support.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the County Line Brethren Church, 69988 U.S. 31 South, Lakeville. Pastor Wyatt Smith will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville and one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
