BREMEN — One popular intersection in Bremen will be closed and frequent drivers of it will have to give themselves a little more time to re-route.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 20, Center Street at High will be cut off to general traffic so workers can widen the intersection — about three feet on both sides — and the sewer lines there can be upgraded. The work is expected to last about a week (weather permitting) with the access completely closed for two days.
Signs will be posted directing drivers at U.S. 6 and Elm, S.R. 331 and High, and Second and Center streets.
“We’re trying to improve the turning radius there,” explained Bremen’s Director of Operations Rich Martin. “The traffic has been heavy there but with all the growth we’ve seen in the industrial area we realized we needed to make the improvements and make the street wider.”
The $46,000 project has been in the engineering process for about eight months and was awarded to the lowest of three bidders, Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Inc.
