Inspired Elkhart Christian routs Bremen in 2010 boys closer

December 22, 2010

ELKHART — After Tuesday’s 2010 finale, the Bremen boys basketball team hopes the new year brings better results.
Bremen found itself in a 15-point hole after a quarter against Elkhart Christian Academy and never challenged the hosts in a 50-27 defeat.
“They came out ready to play and we did not,” Bremen coach Kyle Hanyzewski said. “Our defensive effort was very concerning. I’m at a loss for words, and anybody that’s ever seen us play defense would say the same thing.”
In just his second career start, 6-foot-1 Elkhart Christian freshman Ryan Kupferschmid — who finished with game highs of 21 points and 15 rebounds — scored the game’s first nine points in pushing the Eagles to an 18-3 lead after a period.
