Icy conditions force postponements at Tuesday’s boys sectional openers

February 27, 2013

Severe weather forced two postponements at Tuesday night’s boys basketball sectional openers, pushing back several area teams’ schedules in the 103rd Annual Boys State Basketball Tournament.
In the Class 3A Plymouth Sectional, New Prairie’s opener with South Bend St. Joseph’s was pushed back to tonight at 7 p.m., forcing Wednesday’s originally-scheduled quarterfinals featuring Culver Military versus Marian and the host Pilgrims versus Jimtown back to Thursday at their originally scheduled times of 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
Meanwhile, at the Class 2A Westview Sectional in Topeka, Fremont cancelled its quarterfinal with LaVille less than two hours before the tourney opener between Bremen and Westview, forcing a reschedule of the Lancers-Eagles matchup to tonight at 6 p.m.
In Class A play, the Culver Community Sectional is on schedule with Oregon-Davis set to tip off against Marquette in the late game tonight following a contest between South Central and Westville.
