March 5, 2013

PLYMOUTH - A local man has entered a not guilty plea on a charge of murder and drug dealing.
Friday afternoon Marshall County Superior Court Judge Robert Bowen held an initial hearing by video conference on Friday in the case of Olan Howard who has been charged with Murder and Dealing in a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
Howard asked for and received a public defender. Bowen appointed Plymouth attorney Tom Black as counsel for Howard and set a pretrial conference for March 13. Howard has asked for a jury trial and those dates were set as Sept. 10 and Oct. 1. Howard remains in jail on a $100,000 bond.”
Howard is accused of murdering Stephen O. Vires on May 19, 2012 while allegedly attempting to deal in a scheduled I controlled substance - reportedly heroin and/or morphine.
He was arrested last week, shortly after an indictment in this case was handed down by a Marshall County Grand Jury.
