Hoham Drive to close beginning Monday
PLYMOUTH — The third section of construction work on Oak Road is about to begin.
Gary Fox, project engineer, recently released the news that Hoham Drive will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday.
“Anybody that needs to travel on Hoham Drive to get to Oak Drive will not be able to get through,” said Fox.
Oak Drive will remain open from north to south, but Hoham Drive beginning at the three-way stop intersection will be closed. Drivers will not be able to turn onto Hoham Drive from Oak Road. but local traffic to businesses and residences on Hoham Drive will be accessible from the east, according to Fox.
“We closed Hoham Drive once before, three months ago, for two days to run a water line,” said Fox.
The detour route marker signs from the earlier closing will be put in place again, he added. Hoham Drive will be closed for four weeks while workers basically build a new intersection.
“That’s the reason for the road being closed, they are going to build all that new,” pointed out Fox.
Workers will also simultaneously be finishing construction on the east lanes of Oak Road. Fox said that in the past week they have been focusing on extending the storm sewers on the east side of the road.
Traffic is currently being directed to the completed west lanes.
Fox said that he expects that the majority of the project will be completed after the intersection and east side of the road is finalized. He noted that the crew may also do a small segment of work on Pilgrim Lane, which would require them to close that road as well.
Fox plans to notify the public of this road closing when it happens.
