Hoagland and Reehling win Farm Bureau Classic

June 23, 2011

KOONTZ LAKE — Jason Reehling of Fairmont gave his father-in-law, David Hoagland of Rochester a great Father’s Day gift of a 5.69 pound largemouth that propelled them to victory at the Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Classic at Koontz Lake.
This was their first win in the MARCO Bass Masters Tournament Series. They had a five fish limit that weighed 13.20 pounds. It was also their second Travel Tender Bait and Tackle Big Bass Award of the Year. The victory was worth $650, and they were awarded another $130 for big bass.
Randy Burkett and Jon Vanhorn of Culver finished second for their career-best in the MARCO Series. Their five fish limit weighed 10.46 pounds and they took home $390 for their effort. Rich Patton and Janice Hite of Plymouth were third with 9.65 pounds and earned $260.
Bobby Nelson of Fulton and Jim Hippensteel of Rochester moved into the point lead with 199 points but Patton and Hite trail them by only one point. The next tournament in the MARCO Bass Masters Tournament Series is July 9 at Maggie’s Landing on the St Joseph River.
