Herbert L. ‘Red’ Gaddis, Sr.
July 3, 1930 — March 5, 2011
MICHIGAN CITY — Mr. Herbert L. “Red” Gaddis Sr., age 80, of Michigan City, Ind. and formerly of Walkerton, Ind, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 peacefully in his sleep at St. Anthony Memorial Health Center.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City.
Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton.
Herbert was born July 3, 1930 in Beedeville, Ark. to Hutty and Lillian (Breckenridge) Gaddis. They are deceased.
He is survived by his loving companion, Susan Webster; son, Lennie Gaddis of LaPorte; daughter, Kathy Borelli of Koontz Lake, Ind.; grandson, Chad Williams; sisters, Shirley Sue (Duane) Drake of Plymouth, Ind., Patricia (Chuck) Wrigley of Peoria, Ill.; and a brother, Jerry Gaddis, of Bremen, Ind. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Angee Butler, Dennis Burlingham, Jared Gaddis, Jordan Gaddis, Kenny Drake and Jeff Drake.
Mr. Gaddis was a machinist at Joy Manufacturing Co. for 31 years and retired in 1989. He had a great sense of humor. He loved hot rods, car shows and drag racing. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Michiana Humane Society or the LaPorte County Council on Aging.
