Heminger house asks for help from Marshall County Council

MARSHALL COUNTY — The Heminger House started in 1999 by Dean Byers and Laura Mann as a women's and children's shelter. The shelter has been able to assist nearly 1,000 individuals with temporary housing and now needs help with funding.
“We have always been fully funded through grants, donations, the Community Foundation, United Way and things like that. We have found ourselves, in the last year, in a huge predicament because we have lost about $65,000 worth of grant funding, by no fault of our own, purely by budget cuts at the state and federal level,” said Mann.
The shelter has received a pledge for help from the city of Plymouth and asked the Marshall County Council to make a donation as well.
