BREMEN — After 19 years as the administrative assistant to the town’s Director of Operations and Bremen Chamber of Commerce assistant, a replacement has been found for the retiring Phyllis Van De Keere.
Cathy Harrison has stepped into those roles after training with her for six weeks. No stranger to the community, the Bremen High School graduate has worked at Koontz Hardware, her family’s business, most of her life. It was the connections she made with the community and her personality, as well as her capabilities, that brought her to be chosen from the 23 other applicants.
“It sounded like a job that would fit me,” Harrison said of why she applied for the town position. “I felt like it fit my personality and I know a lot of people in town from working at the hardware store.”
Born and raised in Bremen, Harrison said she enjoys spending time with family and friends in her spare time.
“She’s been great,” Harrison said of Van De Keere’s training her. “I’m very excited and really like it.”
