ARGOS — Harold “Curly” Dean Stevens, 73, of Argos died April 20, 2012 at 8:26 a.m. at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 2, 1938 in Red Wine, Ky. to Sanford and Elizabeth (Hill) Stevens. He lived in the Argos community since 1955. Dec. 9, 1960 in Rochester he married Verna Lou Bear.
He was self-employed. Harold enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the love of his life. He was an avid golfer and loved riding his bicycle. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. He and Verna loved Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Stevens of Argos; son, Douglas D. Stevens and wife Christine of Noblesville; three grandchildren, Cory Neal, Zachary Stevens, Amanda Stevens; four sisters, Ruby Brock of Argos, Juanita Duff and husband Dave of Argos, Bonnie Susits and husband John of Argos, Linda Hale and husband Jim of Lakeville; four brothers, Herbert Stevens and wife Shirley of Argos, Hobert Stevens and wife Claudett of Lakeville, William Stevens and wife Linda of Punta Gorda, Fla., Sherman Stevens and wife Linda of Bourbon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deana Lou Stevens; brothers, Donald and Jimmy Stevens; sister, Edna Roberts; and a sister-in-law, Janice McClain.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday April 24, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ, 15676 Michigan Road, Argos, with Rev. Lloyd Howard officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
