HAMLET – Three people charged with multiple burglaries were arrested in Starke County by officers from the Hamlet Police Department, following a three-month investigation.
At approximately 11 a.m. on Aug. 12, officers from the Hamlet Police Department executed a search warrant  at 7733 N. Kickapoo, Walkerton. Officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the search. Items from multiple burglaries in the Hamlet area were recovered at the scene, along with other items that were believed to be stolen. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia also were seized.
Arrested at the scene were: Steven Sandoval, 21, Danny Clark, 20, and Cassara Craig, 19, all of Koontz Lake. Sandoval was charged with: Two counts of burglary, Class C felonies, two counts of theft, Class D felonies and visiting a common nuisance a Class B misdemeanor; Clark was charged with burglary, theft and maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony; and Craig faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance and theft and receiving stolen property, a Class D felony.
A search warrant also was obtained for DNA samples and master fingerprint samples from the suspects. Further charges are pending the results of these samples. All three remain in custody in the Starke County Jail with no bond, awaiting their first appearance in Starke Circuit Court.
The Hamlet Police Department says the best way to prevent crime is for residents to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement. Any incident that threatens life or is an immediate threat to property justifies a call to 911. Residents also may call 574-772-3771, a 24-hour non-emergency number to report other suspicious activity.
