Hacienda looking at Plymouth for new location
Nothing is set in stone, but a representative from Hacienda confirmed that the Mexican restaurant chain is looking at Plymouth for a new location.
Rumors have surfaced that Hacienda is looking at the former Beef O'Brady's building on Miller Drive.
Beef O'Brady's closed its doors last month.
Jeff Leslie, vice president of sales and marketing for Hacienda, said that he couldn't get into specifics since there is no deal but that the company is looking at its options in Plymouth.
"We've thought about it for a long time," said Leslie. "Plymouth would be an excellent choice. We're actively trying to put a deal together."
Hacienda's corporate headquarters are in South Bend and there are 18 restaurants in Indiana and Michigan.
The first Hacienda opened in Mishawaka in 1978.
Lending credibility to Leslie's assertion that no deal is in place, the restaurant has yet to contact the city's plan department or applied for a liquor license through the Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
