Getting to the root of who's responsible for the trees

MARSHALL COUNTY — There are many trees that line the banks of the Yellow River. Property owners Penny and Alice Cleveland expressed concern with getting to the bottom of who is responsible to care for those trees. According to Penny Cleveland the trees do not fall on her property line although there is a tree that is unsafe and could damage her property if it falls. Alice has a similar problem.
The county has a 75 foot right of way to access the river, however, they do not own the river bank making removing the trees not their responsibility. The drainage board gave the Clevelands guidance on what steps to take next to solve their problem. Read all about it in today's Pilot News.
