Gas line hit on Garro Street

PLYMOUTH — The city utilities department hit an unmarked gas line on Garro Street Monday around 11 a.m. while they were putting in a new sewer line in front of Hoffman's and the Plymouth Farmers Market area.
The Plymouth Fire Department responded to the scene, evacuating six nearby residents and standing by until NIPSCO was able to stabilize the situation. Plymouth Fire chief Rod Miller said that the gas line was accidentally hit while city personnel were digging a trench.
