Free family day at the park Saturday

July 24, 2012

PLYMOUTH — When it comes to fun with kids, "free" is a word that every parent can appreciate. This Saturday, the Plymouth Park Department and Coca-Cola are putting on a free family fun day at Young Amphitheater in Centennial Park. The day begins at 10 a.m. with balloon artist Art Heminger, a bounce house, face painting, cornhole, and more.
"It's a good, inexpensive way to spend time with family and have some fun," said Plymouth Park Department recreation director Scott Michel.
He added that a donation from Coca-Cola enables the park department to pay for entertainment such as the group Jetta and the Jellybeans, a free show that begins at 11 a.m. Jetta and the Jellybeans is a South Bend-based children's musical group.
"It's like a rock concert for the whole family," said Michel. "(The group) is geared toward kids ages 10 and under, but everyone can enjoy it."
Beginning at noon, the Plymouth Fire Department will arrive at the event to run "water fun" activities. Free hot dogs, popcorn, and Coca-Cola products will be available throughout the event, which last until 2 p.m.
For more information, contact the park department at 574-936-2876.
