Fleeing driver arrested

BREMEN — A Bremen man was arrested after he led officers on a chase around town.
Wednesday, July 4 at about 11 p.m. Officer Siple of the Bremen Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Center Street in Bremen. When the officer approached the vehicle to talk to the driver the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed. Officer Siple then pursued the suspect through the streets in the northeast side of Bremen where at Mill and Center streets the suspect struck a trailer. 
Later, at the intersection of East North and North Center streets, the suspect struck two vehicles that were occupied and waiting at the stop sign on East North Street. When officers approached the suspect in his vehicle at that location the suspect reversed his vehicle ramming a Bremen Police car. The suspect was identified as David Schmucker, 40, of Bremen who was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement, Operating While Intoxicated, Endangering and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. 
No one was injured in the incident. The Bremen Police Department was assisted by the Bremen Reserve Officers, Indiana State Police, Tri-County EMS, and Bremen Fire Department.
