First baby of the New Year is Peyton Burdick

January 6, 2012

Peyton Burdick

PLYMOUTH — The first baby to be born this year at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth was Peyton Burdick, who was born at 10:21 a.m. New Year’s Day.
She weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces. Her parents, Christine and Jeff Burdick of Walkerton, said that Peyton was originally due on Christmas Eve.
At the time, they didn’t put much thought into Peyton being the first baby of the new year.
“I just wanted her to arrive,” said Christine. “(But) I wasn’t surprised (she was the first baby) because we were the only ones at the hospital when we arrived at around 4 a.m. I think it will be something interesting to tell her when she gets older.”
Peyton went home Monday with her parents and 6-year-old sister, Lorelei, who was also born at SJRMC.
