Falcons scoreless streak ends, winning streak lives on at CMA

September 25, 2010

CULVER — The Eagles ended John Glenn’s shutout streak, but it was too little, too late as the Falcons claimed a 49-12 victory at Culver Academies Friday.
Glenn scored two touchdowns in all but the fourth quarter, and the Falcons defensive unit held CMA to just 45 total net offensive yards in the first half, shutting out the home team for three quarters — its sixth such performance in six games this year — before a Juwan Brescacin touchdown catch and a Pierre Byrne 5-yard run in the fourth quarter concluded a streak of 15 scoreless quarters by Glenn opponents.
But Glenn easily outrushed and outpassed CMA and scored seemingly at will, punting only once and turning over on downs once on its way to seven scores and the non-conference win.
“We were saying that besides Jimtown this is probably our next toughest opponent,” said Glenn head football coach Justin Bogunia. “They beat Judson and so we were kind of amped up for this game, and we knew that we had to play good football tonight, and they did. They came out, and they took it to them. I’m proud of their aggressiveness, and the way they came out. We took that opening drive and we marched it down the field on them, and I knew at that point our guys were ready to play.”
