Falcons overpower LaVille, 55-32

WALKERTON — John Glenn’s boys basketball squad flexed its muscle on both ends of the court Friday.
Defensively, the Falcons held LaVille to a 10-of-42 mark from the field — 2 of 18 from downtown — while on the other side of the timeline Glenn pounded the ball inside almost at will in a 55-32 Northern State Conference win at The Aerie.
“I think our strength took over tonight, and it should with our size and experience,” Glenn head coach Travis Hannah said. “We were able to take the ball to the hole.
“I thought one of the biggest things was that we did a good job getting out on (LaVille’s) shooters,” he added. “They love to shoot the 3, and (Trenton) Stout hit one early, but after that we did a pretty good job on their shooters. We picked up (Andrew) Hostetler and didn’t give him many looks.”
Through a series of backdoor cuts for layups, coupled with easy transition buckets, the Falcons opened the second quarter with a 12-2 spurt to grab a 25-11 advantage at the 4:04 mark and led by double digits the rest of the way.
