Extra payday for county employees will substitute for raises
MARSHALL COUNTY — In a workshop following the County Council meeting on Monday, county auditor Penny Lukenbill explained how the calendar contributed to an unusual budget crunch for Marshall County's multimillion dollar budget.
Instead of raises, the employees will take home a 27th paycheck. this is the equivalent to a 4 percent wage increase, Lukenbill told the council.
“The way I calculated that extra pay was keeping the same rate as this year, everybody their hourly or bi-weekly rate stays the same,” said Lukenbill.
The council will be addressing other budget issues in the next few weeks, including how to cap a $316,000 shortfall between revenue and spending requests.
