EUSTIS, Fla. — Long-time Plymouth resident, Emma Hughes, died on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2012 in Florida where she had lived for the past six years.
Emma was born April 17, 1914 in Plymouth, the daughter of William and Lottie Holem Hampton. In 1935, she married Lester A. Hughes and enjoyed 62 years of marriage before Lester died in 1997. Emma had worked as a secretary for the Indiana State Highway, the American Lung Assn. and radio station WTCA. She was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a Red Cross volunteer and blood donor, and enjoyed traveling, politics and water aerobics.
She is survived by a daughter Sue Keller (Charles) of Mount Dora, Fla.; two granddaughters, Patricia Gordon (William) of Virginia and Mary Keller-Petrolawicz of South Carolina as well as four great-grandchildren, Mauricio and David Gordon, Julia and Amy Petrolawicz.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 S. Michigan St. in Plymouth on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be given to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
