Elkhart Clinic wins ninth annual Wakarusa/ Nappanee Chamber Golf Outing

WAKARUSA — The Wakarusa and Nappanee Chambers of Commerce held their ninth annual joint golf outing June 19 at McCormick Creek in Nappanee.
The morning session first place team from McCormick Motors, consisting of Steve Neff, Sam Sheets, Adam Yoder and Amy Thompson, shot a phenomenal 25-under-par 47 and left feeling pretty confident of securing the top prize, but Elkhart Clinic’s team of Kevin Boyer, Griffyn Carpenter, T.J. Carpenter and John Miller, carded a 26-under-par 46 in the afternoon session to win by a single shot.
The Livin’ Lite team of Scott Tuttle, Rod Lung, Dan Holden and Andy Wolfe finished third with a score of 50, meanwhile.
More than $3,000 worth of prizes were given out for the day, including a Scotty Cameron Select Newport Putter worth $399 and a Nike Method Concept Belly Putter valued at $263.99.
The joint Chamber outing raises funds for each community who in turn support Dollars For Scholars, Chamber member promotions and many free community events.
Deb Shively, volunteer chair and executive secretary of the Wakarusa Chamber, Jeff Kitson, executive director of the Nappanee Chamber, and Nappanee administrative assistants Dawn Morey and Darla Burns work with a core committee of seven volunteers and 50 additional volunteers the day of the outing.
Shively said she is amazed each year at the sponsor and volunteer support for this event.
“Year after year they continue to gift their time and sponsorships,” she said. “They are so appreciated and important because we could not host this outing without them.”
Next year will mark the 10th year under the direction of Greg Taylor, Guidance Wealth LLC. who is looking forward to continuing “having fun and raising funds” for his WaNee Community.
