Driver under influence causes damage to residence, injures 2

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth police units were dispatched to Plum and Harrison Streets Wednesday just after 5 p.m. Cory T. Berger, of Merrillville, failed to yield to Carolina Mendez, of Plymouth, who had the right of way traveling east on Harrison Street. Berger hit Mendez, causing Mendez to hit a residence. Two passengers in Mendez's vehicle were injured, and one was transported by medflight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Berger was given a chemical test at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and later booked into the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. His bail is set at $1,500.
