Draws are in for 47th Annual Bi-County Tournaments

LAKEVILLE — The draws for the 47th Annual Teachers Credit Union Bi-County Basketball Tournaments were announced Thursday.
The eight-team varsity tournaments begin Tuesday, January 17 and continue through Saturday, Jan. 21. First-round games will take place at four different sites, while all subsequent rounds will be played at LaVille High School.
In the first round of the varsity tourneys, Bremen will play at Argos with the girls game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the boys game to follow at 8 p.m., while Oregon-Davis will host New Prairie with the girls game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the boys game slated for an 8 p.m. tip-off. Culver will travel to Triton with a 6 p.m. tip-off for girls and a 7:30 p.m. tip-off for boys, and John Glenn will travel to LaVille with girls scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. and the boys scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Winners of the girls’ Bremen-Argos and New Prairie vs. Oregon-Davis games will play Thursday, Jan. 19 at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium at LaVille at 6:30 p.m. and winners of the Culver-Triton and Glenn-LaVille girls matchups will play in the late game Thursday at 8 p.m.
Winners of the boys openers between Bremen-Argos and New Prairie vs. Oregon-Davis will play Friday, Jan. 20 at LaVille at 6:30 p.m., and the winners of the Culver-Triton and Glenn-LaVille contests will play at 8 p.m. at LaVille.
Consolation games will be played in the Auxiliary Gym at LaVille at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, concurrent with the semifinals in the main gym.
The girls championship will take place in the LaVille main gym Saturday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. with the boys championship scheduled to follow at 8:30 p.m.
The Oregon-Davis girls team is looking to restore a string of four straight Bi-County championships after being unseated by Culver Community 50-46 last year, while in the boys tourney Triton is looking to run its streak of championships to three since taking Culver Military’s place at the tourney in 2009-2010.
At the close of the tourney, The Pilot News will present MVP awards to one male and one female athlete from the varsity tilts. Teachers Credit Union will award one male and one female player with the W.B. Hawkins Award, a $500 check payable to their school’s individual scholarship funds.
