Draws announced for 48th Annual TCU Bi-County Tournament

December 7, 2012

LAKEVILLE — The draws have been announced for the 48th annual Bi-County Basketball Tournaments.
The tournament, sponsored by Teachers Credit Union and hosted by LaVille High School, will run from January 14-19. Admission prices are $5 for single session tickets and $15 for full tourney admission, good for all games at all levels.
The tilt will kick off with the junior varsity tournaments Monday, Jan. 14, and the varsity tournaments will open Tuesday, Jan. 15. The eight-team tourney begins with a quartet of girls/ boys doubleheaders at four different sites, and the draws are the same for each of the levels of the tournament.
New Prairie travels to LaVille, three-peat defending boys champion Triton heads to Argos, defending girls champ Class A No. 3 Oregon-Davis — which has won five of the last six girls tournaments — is hosted by John Glenn, and Culver Community plays at Bremen. JV games will take place at the opposite school sites. Girls games are scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. EST and boys games are slated to follow at approximately 8 p.m.
After the first round, LaVille High School will host all tourney games.
The JV boys and girls semifinals take place Wednesday, Jan. 16, with the varsity girls semis and consolation games on Thursday, and the boys semis/ consols on Friday. Semifinals will take place in the main gym, and all consolation games will be held in the auxiliary gym. The winner of the New Prairie-LaVille and Triton-Argos games will play one another in the early games, with the winners of OD-Glenn and Culver-Bremen to play after.
Championships are slated for Saturday with the JV girls and boys title matches to take place at noon and 1:30, respectively, the girls finals scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the boys championships following at approximately 8:30 p.m. EST
This year’s Bi-County will also pay homage to the tournament’s all-time winningest boys and girls coaches. Recently retired Bremen girls basketball coach Marty Huber, who guided the Lady Lions to seven titles, and current Triton assistant coach Gordon Mosson, who won 10 games as the longtime head coach of John Glenn, will be honored between the semifinal games Thursday and Friday at LaVille.
