PLYMOUTH — Dorothea “Elaine” Burroughs, 91, of Plymouth, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at 8:15 p.m., in the loving care of her daughters and Hospice.
Elaine was born Sept. 11, 1921 in Walkerton to Albert Ray and Nancy (Masterman) Barden. She graduated from LaPaz High School in 1939 and attended beauty school shortly after.
On Aug. 29, 1945, she married Albert “Bud” Edward Burroughs in Teegarden.
She owned and ran Elaine’s Beauty Service for 36 years, finally retiring in 1986. She also worked as a waitress at Price’s Steak House before attending beauty school.
Elaine was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed antiquing and loved going shopping with her girls. Elaine was known for her beautiful handwriting.
Elaine is survived by her daughters, Janice (Jerry) Waletzko of Grandforks, N.D. and Jeanne Burroughs of Indianapolis, and two grandsons, Christopher and Chad Hindman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud, brother, Arthur Barden, and sisters, Mildred Conner and Ruth Eastland.
Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral services will at the Plymouth Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 with Rev. Ruth Yoder officiating. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service in the church.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery.
