CULVER — Donovan E. Clifton, 84, of Culver, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, at his home.
Donovan was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Plymouth, to B. Ellis and Nellie (Hatten) Clifton. Donovan, and the former Lucille Ball, were united in marriage, in Lake Bruce, July 8, 1950. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Maxinkuckee IOOF Lodge #373, was Past Grand Master of the State of Indiana, and a Co-captain of the IOOF Degree Team for the state of Indiana. Donovan retired from the Culver School Corporation as the head grounds keeper.
Donovan is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucille Clifton of Culver; their daughters, Vicki Z. Haenes of Austin, Texas and Kathi (Ron) Trilling of Milwaukee, Wis.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Bernard Clifton of Trenton, N.C.; his sisters, Wahneeta Sausman of Valparaiso and Nancy Strycker of Culver. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; his brothers, Edgar Clifton in 2010 and Charles Clifton in 2006.
