PLYMOUTH — Donald E. Ferguson, 82, of Lilac Road, Plymouth, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Don was born April 25, 1930, in Plymouth, to Charles and Villa Fern (Nellans) Ferguson. Don was a graduate of Argos High School. As a proud soldier in the United States Army, Don served in the Korean War. June 10, 1950, Don and the former Avalee Hite were married, in Plymouth. Don and Avalee owned and operated Courtesy Dry Cleaners for 30 years. Don was a Marshall County commissioner and member of MACOG of Northern Indiana. He served as vice president on the Solid Waste Board; vice president, in both Marshall and Starke Counties, on the Drainage Board; was a member of the Elkhart Drainage Board; the past president of Marshall County 4-H Board; past president of the Marshall County Neighborhood Center; and former North Township vice committee member.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Avalee; their daughter, Deb and Tim Griewank of Plymouth; their son, Bruce and Betty Ferguson of Texas; three grandchildren, Brad (Kristl) Ferguson of Texas, Kelli (John) Grogg of Indianapolis, and Sarah Griewank of West Lafayette; three brothers, Clifford (Barb) Ferguson of Plymouth, Floyd (Carol) Ferguson of Plymouth, and Lloyd (Linda) Ferguson of Arizona. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Violet Ham, Bernice Ott, and Marjorie Albright; and two brothers, Melvin Ferguson and Robert Ferguson.
