Diamond Spyders to play in home regional Friday

July 25, 2013

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Post 27 Diamond Spyders are alive again in the American Legion State Baseball Tournament.
After falling in double-elimination at their home sectional last week, the Spyders have been invited back as they host the regional round of tourney play at Bill Nixon Field this weekend. The Spyders will replace Richmond Post 65, which was forced to withdraw from the regional earlier this week.
Post 27 will take on Bristol Post 143 in a nightcap scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday following the tourney opener between Kokomo Post 6 and Highland Post 180 at 4 p.m.
The winner from the regional will receive a bye at the five-team American Legion state finals hosted by St. Joseph Post 464 in St. Leon the following weekend.
