Culver's Miller is NCSA Young Referee of the Year

June 12, 2012

LAKEVILLE — Kalee Miller of Culver was recently named the North Central Soccer Association (NCSA) T. Edward (Ted) Ummel Young Referee of the Year.
Miller is the daughter of Debbie and Larry Miller and received a cash prize and plaque with the award at the conclusion of the NSCA's spring soccer season, in which over 1,800 young players participated.
Miller was nominated by Culver Youth Soccer and was selected by the NCSA committee. She has been USSF certified for five years.
The award, in its second year, honors long-time referee and referee educator, Ted Ummel. Ted served for many years as the referee trainer for the NCSA, as well as treasurer of Argos Youth Soccer. This award remembers his standard of excellence with the selection of a young referee who has shown skill in officiating as well as quality in character.
Four members of the Ummel family presented the award. Ted’s wife Brenda, mother Jackie, aunt Muriel and son Phillip stopped in Lakeville for the presentation while on their way to Chicago for a wedding.
