Culver, Triton, LaVille, Bremen open NSC competition

September 2, 2010

BOURBON — As conference schedules open up around the state this week, Culver heads to sectional and Northern State Conference foe Triton on Friday.
The two teams have a strong rivalry going after a couple of close battles last season. Culver (2-0) won both contests, including a 20-13 victory that unseated reigning Sectional 33 champ Triton (1-1) in round two of the tourney last October.
Plenty of returning Trojans are bound to have a bitter taste left in their mouths over that result, and Culver head coach Andy Thomas is expecting another close fight this weekend.
“They’re a good team. They have a lot of kids that know how to win, and I think we match up pretty evenly,” said Thomas. “We had two close games with them last year. I don’t see any reason why it won’t be the same this year.”
