CPR classes set for March 26

March 10, 2011

BREMEN — The American Red Cross Marshall County Chapter will offer free compression-only CPR training classes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 26 at the Bremen Senior Center, 103 N. Center St. The classes are open to all community members age 14 and over.

Each class is one hour. A Spanish interpreter will be available for one of the classes.

Hands-only CPR is a potentially live-saving technique without mouth-to-mouth contact. It is best used in emergencies in which someone has seen another person suddenly collapse. The hands-only technique increases the likelihood of surviving cardiac emergencies that occur outside medical settings.

Businesses are invited to join in sponsoring the event for the community. Partnerships will be mentioned prior to the start of each class and listed on the training room signage. If anyone from a sponsor company attends the seminar, they will qualify for a 50 percent discount on a fully certified CPR class, normally priced at $45.

Instructors are available to assist businesses with certified training in CPR and first aid to meet OSHA requirements. The Red Cross also encourages businesses to train their staffs and facilities on how to prevent and prepare for disasters, workplace injuries and other emergencies.

The American Red Cross Marshall County Chapter provides a wide range of programs to help individuals, communities, schools and workplaces prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters.

To register for a March 26 class, log on to www.marshallcountyin.redcross.org/citizen_cpr_registration or call 574-936-3928.
