County receives awards for road construction

March 20, 2012

Marshall County, Rieth-Riley, and DLZ Engineering received two awards for the work done to Pioneer Road last year. L to R: Commissioner Jack Roose, Commissioner Kevin Overmyer, Laurie Johnson of DLZ Engineering, Commissioner Greg Compton.

PLYMOUTH — Laurie Johnson, of DLZ Engineering, presented Marshall County commissioners with two awards Monday for the work done on Pioneer Road. The first was a state finalist award from the American Council for Engineering Committee (ACEC), which Johnson explained is awarded annually. The second was an Indiana Partnership of Transportation Quality (IPTQ) award for rural road projects. The awards were given to DLZ Engineering, Rieth-Riley, and Marshall County.
“We really appreciate the opportunity to work on this job, and I would be remiss not to also thank MACOG — they did a lot of work on this (project),” said Johnson.
“(The road) is definitely an asset to the community,” said commissioner Kevin Overmyer. “We had our rocky moments at times, but everything worked out.”
