Concert for Courtney is Saturday

PLYMOUTH - Efforts to help with the medical costs associated with the miraculous recovery of Argos teen Courtney DeMont continue.

DeMont was injured in a vehicle accident on April 18 and while she has recently returned home, the cost of her recovery continues. Saturday a full day “Concert for Courtney” is planned at the Young Amphitheatre in Plymouth and features some of the area’s most popular bands.

Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with Terry and the Heartbeats taking the stage at 12:45 p.m. The 14-piece ensemble features a horn section and wide variety of musical styles with lead singer Terry Austin.

Plymouth natives Dick Siddal and Dale Paxton bring one of the area’s hottest acts, Shades of Grey, to the stage for two sets in the afternoon. The first starts at 2:30 p.m. the second begins at 4 p.m.
In between sets from Shades of Grey there will be a live auction presided over by Sam Goebel starting at 3:30 p.m. Items up for bid include a sapphire crystal men’s watch from King’s Jewelry, a guitar from the Guitar Center and an original oil painting from local artist Joan Darflinger.

Rounding out the day in music, Jimmi Zee and the Rain hit the stage at 6 p.m. featuring bassist Mike Wakes AKA “Milky” who’s played with Junior Walker and the All Stars and with the Saturday Night Live and David Letterman bands.

They are followed by Dave’s Not Here at 7:45, featuring Jimmi Zieber who’s played with Lynard Skynard and local musician John Thacker. Headliners SocioHazarD featuring Argos’s Richii Zieber finish the day with their set starting at 9:30 p.m.

Throughout the day fundraising activities will surround the stage with Hoosier Old Wheels holding a car show on the site with $1 per vote fans choice. There will also be a Cornhole Tournament and raffles throughout the day.

The motorcycle riding group known as F.I.S.T. (Friends In Service Together) is holding the Courtney DeMont Benefit motorcycle ride the morning of the concert. Registration fee is $10 per rider and includes admission to the concert.

Registration is at 10:00 a.m. at the Young Amphitheater. The ride will leave at noon and will return to the amphitheater when finished.

Cost for admission is $10 for adults, kids 4-12 are $5, under four are free. Food from the Log House will be available as well as tacos and lemonade from Brian McGowan. Pepsi will also be available all day.
